Sumo, Sharran Alexander recognized as a world-class sumo wrestler

One of the first British women to be recognized as a world-class sumo wrestler was a nanny. She began her career in sumo in 2006 at the age of 41, when she entered competition at the encouragement of her 3 children. She’s earned 4 gold medals internationally, been to Japan to represent Great Britain in the World Sumo Championship and gained the title of “world’s heaviest female athlete” in the Guinness Book of World Records in 2013. Her name is Sharran Alexander. ☺️

*edit to add that she’s rated as a 2nd kyu grade sumo. 😁
